Thomas Hitchcock – Vice President of Medical & Clinical Affairs
Dr. Thomas M. Hitchcock brings more than 15 years of research experience to Bellus Medical. This includes experience in basic science, proof-of-concept, pre-clinical and clinical research across several therapeutic areas such as Cardiology, Oncology, Gene Therapy, Plastic/Facial plastic surgery, Dermatology, and Aesthetic medicine.
In his role, Dr. Hitchcock oversees the clinical/medical educational and regulatory materials, as well as the clinical direction for Bellus Medical’s new products.
Dr. Hitchcock is the Founder and CEO of Xycrobe Therapeutics, Inc., where he is exploring a patent-pending process for developing therapies using genetically modified microbes. Previously, Dr. Hitchcock was Director of Clinical and Medical Affairs at Ulthera Inc., where he directed the medical information and medical science liaison teams and was actively involved in R&D efforts for current and future device indications. He has also managed Medical Affairs at Suneva Medical.
Prior to this, Dr. Hitchcock performed academic research in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine at Yale University. During this time, he was first to successfully implant a tissue-engineered human small-diameter artery into a living host.
Dr. Hitchcock earned his Ph.D. in Genetics from Clemson University and completed postdoctoral trainings at Duke University and Yale University in Biomedical Engineering, Vascular Biology and Therapeutics. He also served as a consultant for Boehringer Ingelheim and Bayer and performed research at Weill Cornell Medical College where he studied multiple myeloma genetics. His findings have been published the Journal of Biological Chemistry, the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences and, most recently, a chapter on energy-based devices in Clinics in Plastic Surgery.
Jelena Boldt – Sr. Director of Marketing
Jelena Boldt is a seasoned marketing professional with an extensive background within the skincare, health and wellness, pharmaceutical and relationship marketing industries. With more than 17 years of experience in growing businesses and brands, Jelena leads the marketing strategy for Bellus Medical, including product marketing, creative services, branding, digital marketing and communications.
Jelena earned an Executive M.B.A. degree from SMU Cox School of Business and her B.B.A. with a concentration in Marketing from the University of North Texas. In addition to her wide-ranging marketing experience, Jelena has a successful track record delivering innovative solutions to the marketplace in both mature and developing markets.
Jennifer Block – Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs
Jennifer Block is the Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs for Bellus Medical. With more than 12 years of industry experience, Jennifer has a diverse background in Medical Device, OTC and Cosmetic manufacturing, and Regulatory Affairs.
Jennifer is a member of the Dallas chapter of ASQ (American Society for Quality), and helps to ensure that Quality and Regulatory needs of Bellus Medical are her top priority.
